Colchester Software Freedom Day
The Colchester Linux Users Group will be hosting some sort of event in Colchester, UK, which will probably involve some level of intimidating passers-by. Discussion of arrangements will take place on the Colchester-LUG mailing list, with more details of planned events closer to the time.
Update:-
We have been granted space in the towns Library for the day, they are being great and providing a load of services like desks, poster boards, power etc. I have a number of LUG members helping out on the day, burning and labeling OpenCD's and giving out them and ubuntu CD's Canonical are kindly posting to me.
Should be a fun day
Update 16th September
Software Freedom Day 2007
This was held at Colchester Library on Saturday 15th September 2007, between the hours of 11am and 4pm.
A number of Colchester LUG members attended to help out for the day, and we gave out about 200 Ubuntu & Kubuntu CD's and over 30 OpenCD's.
A great many Library users had good long chats with us and all who chatted left with a great compliment of cd's and information.
It was a great chance to meet the general public of Colchester and raise awareness of Ubuntu, Linux and Free Software.
Thanks to all who helped, Colchester Library for the great location, Canonical for the CD's, and My Work for the use of printing facilities. Lets plan the same or better for next year.
