The USEP FOSS Club is a student organization of the University of Southeastern Philippines (USEP) aimed at promoting and advocating FOSS as an alternative software solution. Also, USEP FOSS Club is a new and dynamic student organization whose primary goal is to introduce to the students (member and non-member) and the university as a whole the benefits of FOSS.
USEP is a state-owned academic institution in Southern Philippines. With its aim to become a premier university in the region, USEP FOSS Club envisage to embrace FOSS as a solution to provide a better computing environment for the university at a minimal cost, if not no software licensing cost at all.
USEP FOSS Club's first and major involvement in the advocacy of FOSS will be on Sept. 15, 2007 through the celebration of the Software Freedom Day. Teams are formed from among the members of the club who will work closely with the University of Southeastern Philippines - Institute of Computing and DabaweGNU, Inc. to facilitate and organize the event.
